Prayer Life

Prayer

“For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.” St. Thérèse of Lisieux, CCC 2558

The Holy Spirit is the living water “welling up to eternal life” in the heart that prays. CCC 2652

Reading Sacred Scripture

“For in the sacred books, the Father who is in heaven meets His children with great love and speaks with them;… the force and power of the word of God is so great that it stands… as food for the soul.” Dei Verbum 21.

“For the word of God is living and active” Hebrews 4:12

“For ‘when we speak to him when we pray; we listen to him when we read the divine oracles’” Dei Verbum 25 CCC 2653

The Catechism of the Catholic Church

God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life.

For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church.

To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life. CCC 1

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Mon - Fri 3 - 6pm

Adoration is the first attitude of man acknowledging that he is a creature before his Creator. It exalts the greatness of the Lord who made us and the almighty power of the Savior who sets us free from evil. Adoration is homage of the spirit to the "King of Glory," respectful silence in the presence of the "ever greater" God. Adoration of the thrice-holy and sovereign God of love blends with humility and gives assurance to our supplications. CCC 2628

Praying theLiturgy of the Hours

“In this "public prayer of the Church," the faithful (clergy, religious, and lay people) exercise the royal priesthood of the baptized. Celebrated in "the form approved" by the Church, the Liturgy of the Hours "is truly the voice of the Bride herself addressed to her Bridegroom. It is the very prayer which Christ himself together with his Body addresses to the Father.
