Baptism

Baptismal Guidelines

Baptism is the Sacrament that makes us a child of God.  It is through the celebration of this Sacrament that we are incorporated into the family of faith. Through it, the door to the other Sacraments can be received and celebrated.  Our parish  welcomes and assists anybody who  is desiring this Sacrament, either  for their children, or for themselves.

FOR INFANT BAPTISM, it is expected that the children who will be baptized  will be raised into faith, first and foremost by their parents, with the  help of godparents,  and assisted lovingly by our community.  It is hoped that  the parents have celebrated the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Church, or, are already working with a priest  towards its celebration.  The Godparents must also have celebrated the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Communion and Confirmation).  if the Godparents are married, it should have been celebrated in the Church.

To celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism for Children, which is usually on a designated Saturday of a month, at 10AM:

  • Call the office a register.
  • A donation of $50 is expected at the time of registration for registered St. Mary's parishioners and $75 for non parishioners of St. Mary's.
  • Attend a Baptismal Prep. class (for the parents and the Godparents)
  • Sign up for the date of baptism.
